The Wooden Shield in a nutshell
The Wooden Shield spell belongs to the Owl Magic. It is a defense spell that will be placed on the life bar when cast.
The Wooden Shield only reduces the impact of monster attacks by a percentage: it will not absorb 100% of the monster attack.
The shield has its own shield life called "Durability", which is not extra life. The Durability represents the amount of damage that the shield can deal with. But remember, the Shield never absorbs all the damage done by a monster, there is always a share going into the Life Supply.
However, the durability of the shield is impacted by the whole number of the monster attack.
The Durability of the Wooden Shield adds up if you play a Wooden Shield card and there is already a shield on the life bar.
What happens if the Durability of the Shield is higher than the monster damage
Let's say a monster makes 45 damage to the player and the Wooden Shield has a Durability of 70.
What happens to the Durability of the Shield:
The Wooden Shield's durability is reduced by the number of damage: 70 - 45 = 25
What happens to the 45 damage:
The wooden Shield absorbs a part of the damage: 45 x (% shield absorption) = 18
The player takes the rest of the damage: 45 - 18 = 27 damage
What happens if the Durability of the Shield is lower than the monster damage
Let's now say a monster makes 80 damage to the player and the Wooden Shield has a Durability of 35.
What happens to the Durability of the Shield:
The wooden Shield Durability is lower than the damage and the Shield breaks: 35 - 80 = - 45
What happens to the 80 damage:
The wooden Shield absorbs a part of the 35 damage it took before breaking: 35 x (% shield absorption) = 14
The player takes the rest of the damage left by the shield: 80 - 14 = 66 damage
