You can choose to use your preferred Magic Style in battle after entering the Enchanted Forest (second zone, unlocked after completing Quest 2.1.1).

However, some battles require you to use a designated Magic Style. When this is the case, you'll see a badge with the symbol of that Magic Style in the battle preview.
